Plan Management & Support Coordination
These are two different funded supports that help you manage your NDIS plan. While they sound similar, they do very different things—and many people benefit from having both.
Understanding Your Options
Both Plan Management and Support Coordination are funded supports in your NDIS plan, but they serve different purposes.
Plan Management
Financial Management
Think of this as your personal NDIS bookkeeper.
A Plan Manager handles all the financial administration of your NDIS plan. They pay your providers, manage invoices, and keep track of your budget.
What They Do:
- Pay providers quickly (usually within 2-3 business days)
- Send you detailed monthly budget reports
- Allow you to use non-registered providers
- Handle all NDIS portal claims and payments
What they DON'T do: Find providers, schedule appointments, or provide direct support services.
Support Coordination
Service Connection
Think of this as your NDIS guide and connector.
A Support Coordinator helps you understand your plan, find the right providers, and build your capacity to manage your supports independently over time.
What They Do:
- Help you find and choose the right providers
- Negotiate service agreements and prices
- Resolve issues with providers
- Prepare reports for plan reviews
- Build your capacity to self-manage
What they DON'T do: Pay bills, manage invoices, or handle financial transactions.
